Strelitzia:
The 5 species of clump-forming perennials that make up this genus have
exotic flowers which resemble the head of a bird. Each bloom consists
of several spiked flowers arising from a boat-like bract. The leaves are
large and dramatic. Strelitzias form large clumps of ever green banana
like foliage. They occur naturally in
Sth. Africa but are grown in warm climates around the world. In cool areas
they are enjoyed as greenhouse plant specimens. The species we grow is
'Reginae', as well as two other varieties of this popular plant.
'Var. juncea', a spectacular variety has reed-like leaves which
makes it a stunning new specimen plant for growing near water, and 'Var.
Mandela's Gold', a variety which has beautiful yellow and blue flowers.
We also sell Strelitzia 'Reginae' seeds.

Strelitzia reginae - Dwarf "Mini Bird" :
The ‘Mini Bird’ is our own dwarf variety, which has taken our nursery eight years to develop. The foliage, shape and growth is the same as the orange flowered Strelitzia reginae, however, this variety only grows to half a metre in height.
This dwarf variety is ideal for Patios, verandahs and small gardens.

Clivia: This South African lily was named after Lady Clive, Duchess of Northumberland,
whose grandfather was the famous Clive of India. She was a patron of gardening
and the Clivia first flowered in the UK in her greenhouse. They make excellent
pot plants in colder climates and are wonderful shade loving plants, in
hard to grow areas eg: under trees, etc., adding colour to what is normally
a difficult area to brighten up. Clivia 'Miniata' have broad leaves
sometimes up to 3" (8cm) wide and bear clusters of broadly funnel-shaped
flowers which grow up to 3" (8cm) long , mostly scarlet with a yellow
throat, and usually in spring but occasionally flowering at other times
of the year. We are producing several strains including the much sought
after yellow flowered variety.

Restios:
The Restios (Restionacaea) is a family of evergreen rush-like plants.
Restios are highly sought after for their fine sculptural form, and attractive
long-lasting seed heads. They are grown mostly in sandy soils (requiring
good drainage), from near sea level to high above the snow line. We
are propagating a large range of these plants. The first of these are
available now in 50mm tubes...... The 'Thatching Reed' variety
(Chondropetalum tectorum) forms large elegant tussocks, reaching
up to 2 m high. They are extremely tough and long lived plants, making
them ideal for low-maintenance gardening.
